Goin' Down

Hey girls...this is a good place to share successes!! Knowing that someone is having success can be a great motivator to others. Your success does not have to be in loss of weight. Whatever you want...but please let us know so we can applaud you and be encouraged ourselves!!!

Corny contest....

Ok girls...please enter the corny contest....what you have to do is think of a song that has a phrase in it that encourages you to lose weight!! All you need to do is post the phrase, and what song you got it from. Now, we will vote for the winner on October 15th...so you have time to think of something! Only those who entered the contest can vote. The prize is the accolade that you have come up with the greatest, funniest, corniest phrase. Just listen to your songs as you are going through life, and something will come. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them. If you think this is a little bit unusual, that is ok. You come from a family that likes unusual things. When I was a little girl, we all dressed up as the Farkel Family (from Laugh-In), and paraded over to the Hemphills for the evening. I forgot to write down my password so had to create a whole new account. Keep up with the veggie ideas, those are great!
I found a frozen combination veggies (don't remember who makes it) called immunity boost, a small box. They are tasty and easy to take for lunch.
I'm not doing so good with the points but I am drinking the water! I don't think I can give up the sweets, too much temptation at school. However I did buy a big splenda cookbook and will post some recipes when I look at it.

hey this is Lauren, i don't know how to set up my own name thing. kinda sad that my mom can figure it out but i can't, i'm just so busy studying that i haven't had time...anyways i need suggestions for easy dinner type meals to fix in an apt, on a limited budget, and limited time. My problem is i'm making food for just one and chicken nuggets are so easy but i know they're unhealthy and then stuff like salad doesn't keep long so let me know what your ideas are!

if you hate to cook and you have a sweet tooth try the WW vanilla oreo bars i usually don't like WW food because it taste fake or just plain bad but this one is good and its only 2 points (100 cal.) its so good try it this week and tell me if you like them

give it up

So if your anything like me there is something for you that is your gateway drug to eating. Mine is sweets. I have no off button, I can't eat just one cookie- I have to eat five. So like any other addiction you have to find a way to quit. Some people can slowly back off, not me- I have to go cold turkey. So I have an offer for any of you- I'm going to give up sweets starting today until November 7th, then I will try to incorporate them in a managed way. If you want to give up your gateway food with me until this date- let me know what you're going to give up so we can stay accountable to each other and support one another. If you say you're giving it up- there's no cheating- because I promise I will not cheat and we are accountable to each other.

I'm feeling a little dumb....what does WAITT mean?

Recipes

Roasted Corn and Black Bean Salad 16 servings (1/2 cup)

1 pkg frozen corn...thaw, don't cook and place in bowl with 2-3 TBS oil, coat all, place
corn on baking sheet and bake on 450 for 18-20 minutes- let cool

In jar combine the following and shake well:
1 TBS salt
3/4 tsp cumin
6 TBS lime juice
5 TBS oil
2 TBS cider vinegar

In a large bowl:
1 c. chopped cilantro
1/2 cup red onion
3 Roma tomatoes
1 Red or green bell pepper
2 tsp garlic
2 15 oz. cans black beans- drained and rinsed
Corn from above.

Stir and chill. Before serving add 1 chopped avocado if desired. Enjoy with tortilla chips. Also, this is great if you choose not to put the dressing on it, and just eat the veggies plain.
